Ann's Reading Corner
How I "Named" My Blog!
After creating this blog, the question than facing me was: What am I going to name this blog? After thinking for a while, I hit upon the name "Ann's Reading Corner." One reason is because I love books, and yes, there are times when I do 'lust' after a book, especially when someone writes a great review about a book. I think I just have to have it, and read it myself.
Another reason was because I regret that I never kept track of the books I've read. It would be wonderful to go back and look at a journal of all the books I've read throughout my lifetime. What treasures I lost track of, all for the want of a notebook and self-discipline to write it all down.
It wasn't until the middle of 2010 that I started to haphazardly keep track of what I read. Therefore, in 2011 I decided to keep track of my reading experiences. Well, finally, here's the notebook, or as I like to call it a 'Reading Corner' to write and keep track of what I read, and many things related to reading.
However, I have to be responsible for my own self-discipline in tracking and reviewing the books I read!

ReplyDeleteNICELY done.
ReplyDeleteBooks are treasures. I really Need to get back into reading again. I love it but the computer sometimes takes too much of my time and attention.
Books are man's friends. On all photos taken when I was a child, you'll see me with a book.
ReplyDeleteHave a great book week!

If for no other reason, I use my blog to remember if/when I saw movies, plays, etc al

That is a perfect way to come up with a title. I love books too! I find that when I am too overwhelmed and too busy I don't read. Those are the most stressful times of my year!
ReplyDeleteGlad to learn about your Reading Cornerl well done
ReplyDeleteI used to keep a journal of the books I read many years ago - now alas I never read books much at all due to eyesight problems, short attention span and spending too much time online &c &c but I am so glad that i DID read so much in my younger days.
ReplyDeleteGreat post for N! I love books, too and a few rooms in my home are lined with them. I have not kept a journal of what I've read but I could just go to my bookshelves to see my favorites!

Good for you, Gigi Ann. I start off each year thinking I shall track the books I've read, start off well, and then...oh well. I know about lusting after a book. When I lived in the city it was easier to go off on a quest to find a certain book within a day.

Some books just stay with me, and I know that I have read them and when they are missing from my shelves, - but yes, I wish I had kept a journal of my reading over the years.
ReplyDeleteGlad I am here. Love the cosy reading corner you have.
ReplyDeleteBooks help me when I am tense or stressed.
That's something I need to do too. I hardly keep any record of what I read though I do try to update on Goodreads but I forget more often than not.

I love your reading corner, Gigi Ann! And you're so right...this is a wonderful way to keep track of all the books you've read...and you DO read A LOT! I agree with you about wishing I'd kept some kind of journal about all the books I've read over the years. It never occurred to me until I saw and purchased a "book journal" quite a few years ago, that was just for that purpose. I kept it up for years, but then something happened...my lack of focusing on one thing at a time maybe??!! Whatever it was, I'm trying to get back to it. I've given books like that for gifts, too, and they are always appreciated!
