"First Chapter, First Paragraph" & "Teaser Tuesdays"

Every Tuesday, at Bibliophile By The Sea, will be posting the opening paragraph (sometimes two) of a book I decided to read based on the opening paragraph (s). Feel free to grab the banner and play along.  This week's selection is a cozy mystery, "Ultra Violet" by Nancy Bush.

I had mere seconds to get out of the bedroom. There was no bolt for the door and escape back the way I'd entered. I stood frozen, my hands useless appendages in front of me, my frantic heartbeats a roaring surf in my ears.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
 Grab your current read
 Open to a random page
Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Me in My Reading Corner.  Happy Reading everyone!

  6. I like your First Paragraph. It looks like a good mystery and she's got herself in a pickle. I'd keep reading to find out what's going on. Nice "meeting" you. This is the first time I've been to your blog. Very nice.

  9. That's nice you have a reading corner! I'm not big on cozy mysteries, prefer the thrillers.

  12. Hi Gigi Ann,

This sounds like a great, fun mystery, if those first few lines are anything to go by.

They leave so much to the imagination and so many questions unanswered, but then of course I just HAD to cheat and check out the full synopsis, so I could work out what was going on.

Cozy mysteries are not a genre that I have read a lot of, but my current read, which is an author request to review, is in that genre and I have to say that I am thoroughly enjoying it, so I guess you have a new convert to the world of the cozies'!

I love the way that you like to be surrounded by your books, I feel pretty much the same way.
