Musing Mondays (Mar.14)
Visit Xmas Dolly for all the rules. click above.
This week we don't have a theme, we choose whatever we want to. I chose to choose this very old Cinderella video of Julie Andrews as Cinderella, and Edie Adams as the Fairy Godmother. What is interesting about this TV performance is it was live TV at it's best. When the show started it was like a stage play, any mistakes could not be edited out, and done over. This performance was in 1955, I think, and it was broadcast as the play was being performed.
You have no idea how much I enjoyed that. I remember seeing that when I was a little girl, but that's the first time I saw or thought about since then. Thanks so much for playing along, and I hope you join us next week too!
ReplyDeleteWhile I am a huge Disney fan, I have never been a fan of the Princesses really. Is that odd....?
ReplyDeleteI've never seen these. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat's when TV had quality shows! My girls loved Cinderella when they were little. One time when we got a new ginger colored kitten and I thought that was what we should name it but the girls wanted to call it Cinderella so we compromised and for years had a cat named Gingerella.
ReplyDeleteI loved Cinderella, too! Still do! :) Loved the videos, too! :)
ReplyDeleteHello World - MMMM
When i was a child, that pumpkin scared me. I'm not sure why but there was just something so wrong with a pumpkin that big. The talking mice were no problem but that pumpkin gave me the willy's. I was more of a Sleeping Beauty girl myself. Still am I suppose.

I always loved the Disney animated version of Cinderella, too. It's still one of my favorite movies. I've heard a lot about the live TV version, too, but I don't think I've ever seen it. I wonder if it's on DVD.
ReplyDeleteHere's my Monday musing.
What a wonderful memory you just brought back to me!!! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteSad I don't remember anyone ever reading to me as a child, that doesn't mean it didn't happen though. I loved reading to my kids and my grandson today. Seems they all liked the book "If You Give A Moose A Muffin..."

Oh these are lovely!
ReplyDeleteGlad you could share with us today.
aloha!
I loved Cinderella!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure it had a title, it was a story about Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy. When I went to visit a friend (an only child) she had all kinds of books and toys. I always loved that book and I liked it see them show the heart that was printed on Ann and Andy. Our one daughter bought me a small pair of the dolls several years ago for Christmas, they are sitting on a shelf here in the office. Just the other day I showed our 11 year old Granddaughter the little hearts that say I Love You printed on their bodies. She just smiled. She plays with Barbies.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite is Ferdinand the Bull! Love Cinderella too.
ReplyDeleteLove the music!
