What’s the largest, thickest, heaviest book you ever read? Was it because you had to? For pleasure? For school?
The only book I can think of that was the thickest book I ever read was "Gone With The Wind." My research tells me it is over 1000 pages. I remember it took me parts of three weeks to read it. I read it for pleasure, about 16 years ago for the first time. I had never seen the movie, and a dear friend of mine suggested I read the book first, because it was so much better than the movie. I can truthfully say, she was so right. "Gone With the Wind" is my favorite book of all time. I have read many good books, however, it is still #1 on my list of favorite books.
How about you, What was the largest...book you ever read?
I haven't read the book or seen the movie! gosh, I feel like I live under a rock lol
ReplyDeleteI really need to read that one. It's in one of my challenges for this year, but I haven't gotten around to many of those challenges yet. The annoying thing is that my local library has no copy of Gone With The Wind. >.<
ReplyDeleteHere's my answer!
Gone With the Wind sure is a heavy read!
ReplyDeleteHere is my BTT: Heavy Books post!
I still haven't read Gone With the Wind ... it's one of those books that I know I eventually need to read. :)
ReplyDeleteGWTW was one of the longest for me, too. In fact, I almost listed this one as my "heaviest," but I think Bleak House was even more of a chunkster. Or maybe it just seemed that way!
ReplyDeleteI had that in mind too but I don't have the book so wasn't sure if memory served me right (read it about 35-40 years ago!) My answer is here http://dawntreader-island2.blogspot.com/2011/01/booking-through-thursday-largest.html

ReplyDeleteI've had the desire to read the book but the size keeps me away, lol. I did like the movie though.
ReplyDeleteI was told it's pretty different to the movie too, that they changed some of the content and made it more PC and watcher friendly compared to what is in the actual story. It's still one I haven't read or watched.
ReplyDeleteGone With the Wind is a favorite of mine.
ReplyDeleteI was 13 years old and visiting my Grandmother. Saw Gone with the Wind on my aunt's bookshelf and started reading it one summer afternoon. Finished it at 2 am the next morning! It was the first time I ever stayed up half the night to finish the book.
ReplyDeleteI adore GWTW :)
