I am currently reading "Vet In Harness" by James Herriot.
"I was sitting at the desk in the office at Skeldale House, writing up tuberculin testing forms when a young woman tapped on the door and walked in.
"I think I'm pregnant," she murmured shyly.
I looked up at her in some surprise. It was an unusual opening to a conversation and I didn't quite know how to reply. She was about my age and her demure attractiveness and rather prim style of dress didn't seem to belong to one so outspoken. LP pg. 186.
