What can I say? We all want to be healthy. And we want to lose that annoying fat around our bellies! So since I have an excess of belly fat that has accumulated over the years, I decided to read Dr. Stork's book, in hopes of finding a way to get rid of some of the belly fat. It remains to be seen as to whether I will lose any belly fat at all.
The plan is built around a very clear, research based concept: Eating food that nourishes and protects the microbes in your gut paves the way for weight lose, a slimmer middle, and better overall health. I'm shooting for better overall health.
It's not just about weight loss. Having great gut health is linked to good health throughout your body...With every study that's published, scientists become more convinced that having a healthy gut leads to having a healthy body.
We're accustomed to thinking of bacteria as bad--and some are--but most of the bacteria and microbes in our guts do amazing things, like working with our immune system to fight disease and helping our bodies digest food. Not only can't we live without them, but as their number and diversity increase, so too does our health.
In this book, we look at all of the ways you can improve your own gut health, starting with the food you eat. There are meal plans, and recipes that will help feed and protect your gut microbes. I found that the meal plans and recipes are foods that can be found in the stores or in my case on Amazon, since I don't like to shop. My grandson also shops for me so he keeps me well stocked with most to the foods I need, actually, he fixes most of my dinners for me each evening. There are many other steps you can take to support your beneficial bacteria, from avoiding unnecessary antibiotics to changing the way you think about dirt and germs.
In "The Lose Your Belly Fat", they cover all the bases, giving you everything you need to know to make dramatic changes in your GI health, your weight, your body fat, and your overall health.
Since this is the beginning of a new year and new month, I decided to try to eat a bit healthier, so since I always need a kick in the butt to start something new, I decided to read this book to give myself a jumpstart...I found the book very educational, and learned a few new things. Whether I will stick to the plan or not remains to be seen... I'm very lazy when it comes to menus and so forth, but with my grandson doing most of my cooking now maybe with his encouragement I'll stick to it.
Since I own this book and it is a part of my personal library I will be referring back to it often, until I get the hang of my new way of healthy eating. How many stars should I award the book? Hmmm...let me think....I think I'll award it 5 belly fat stars, because it was an interesting read, not because I'll be losing weight, that I found out a few years ago is a losing cause!!!!
Every small step taken will help!
