Catering a high-class trunk show at Heart's Desire Jewelry is a shining achievement for Theodosia and the Indigo Tea Shop. After all, a slew of jewelers, museums, and private collectors will be there to showcase their wares and sip some of Theo's best blends. But just as Theo settles in to enjoy the fruits of her labor, the party is crashed by a gang of masked muggers who rob the precious gems and jewels on display. The thieves disappear almost as quickly as they arrived, leaving shattered glass, scattered gemstones, and a dead body in their wake.
Although the last thing Theo wants is to get involved, she can't help but intercede when her dear friend Brooke, aunt of the victim and owner of Heart's Desire, begs for help in figuring out who committed the brutal burglary. Though the FBI believes this daring "smash and grab" is the work of an international gang of jewel thieves, Theo is convinced that the felon is someone much closer to home...INCLUDES RECIPES AND TEA TIME TIPS!
My Thoughts...
This was not the first book I've read by this author, Laura Childs, and I am never disappointed when I read one of her cozy mysteries. Since I love tea and visiting Tea Rooms occasionally for a luncheon with my family and friends I always love reading Ms. Childs Tea Shop Mystery series.
A Tea Shop Mystery! how much better could it get? The only advice I have while reading this book is...prepare your meals ahead of time, because once you start reading you don't want to put the book down. Also, I would like to recommend keeping a cup of tea handy. The talk of the many different tea varieties, made me want a cup handy while reading this fun cozy mystery.
The story drew me in right from the first sentence, "Crusted with emeralds, diamonds, rubies, and amethysts, the butterfly brooch glittered enticingly..." it kept me reading late into the night, not wanting to put the book down. (Except to go fix another cup of tea.) It was a real surprise ending for me, I had my mind set on another person as the guilty person. Oh, well, that is what makes mysteries so much fun to read, trying to figure out "whodunit."
Would I read more books by Ms. Childs? I would, because I love a good cozy mystery in the winter, spring, or summer. I enjoyed the book enough to award it 5 "Tea Leaf" stars.
I would like to say, THANK YOU to the author, Laura Childs for providing this book for me to read and review.
I did not receive any type of compensation for reading and reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers and authors I am under no obligation to write a positive review.

ReplyDeleteSounds an interesting read. Just checked & our library has some of her books available so thanks for this.
ReplyDeleteI've read a couple of Laura Childs' books but it's been so long that I remember very little about them other than that I enjoyed them. This one sounds lovely and I was pleased to notice a few months ago that my library put a bunch of her books on their digital site. Thanks for reminding me to go revisit this author!
