There comes a time when I want to read what I want to read. No book tour books, no author request books. I just want to dive into my Mount TBR pile and read away... I bought them because they interested me at the time, and I wanted to read them and I still do.
Next thing I knew I was busy reading what others provided for me. Which I always appreciate that authors think of me and ask me to read and review their books. However, most of this month...it is all about ME, ME, ME. I am setting aside this month to read only from my TBR pile.
Musing Mondays is hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading.
This is exactly why I backed off participating in so many tours this year. I have so many books in my office that I want to read without having to worry about a schedule. I still take on some, but I've drastically reduced what I'm reading for someone else.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting The Book Connection.
This is why I don't request books for reviewing purposes--I don't want to feel that reading is a chore, or something that needs to be crossed off my "to do" list, and I think that's what would happen if I committed to doing formal reviews. I love being able to read--guilt free!--whatever I want, depending on my mood!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same. Many of the book I accept for review are books I might read anyway but the books I buy should go to the top of the pile. Unfortunately they often do not. I do set aside days for my books and really enjoy the reading. Here is my post: Mixed Book Bag
ReplyDeleteI do miss reading books from my tbr. However, I have a hard time saying no to review books that I really want to read. It's such a catch 22! Thanks for posting 'The Idea of Him' cover!
