"Booking Through Thursday" Guilty Pleasure

A while ago, I interviewed my readers for a change, and my final question was, “What question have I NOT asked at BTT that you’d love me to ask?” I got some great responses and will be picking out some of the questions from time to time to ask the rest of you. Like now.
SammyDee asks:
What book(s) have you read that you’re secretly ashamed to admit.
I read some by a famous author that I guess I could say that I was ashamed to admit I read them. I had read reviews that had praised these books, so without reading one ahead of time I went out and bought four books in the series. I read one of the books, didn't like it, but decided to give it another try, so I read another just to see if maybe it would be better, it wasn't! So I ended up throwing the other two in the trash. No it wasn't "Twilight" those books just never interested me. It was in the "Western Chick Lit" genre.

Do you have any books you wish you had never read, or heard of?

  1. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I buy books rather than go to the library (need to change that habit though) so I try to make sure that what I buy is something I want to read and want to keep so I am sort of picky. I don't like sci-fy, either and I don't think I have ever read a "bodice ripper". Maybe I am just a boring person but I like books I can think about and feel good about when I am done.

  2. Now I'm curious about those books...lol

Earlier I was trying to recall the name of an author some of us read in the 1970s...really trashy stuff. Still haven't remembered his name.

    Thanks for visiting my blog.

  4. There have been books I've not finished or have ended up skimming through very quickly because I didn't like them; but that's not the same thing as being ashamed of having read them (or having tried to). They're usually the first to go whenever I have a clear-out in my shelves though.

  5. There are a few books I wish I hadn't read...except that if I hadn't read them, I wouldn't know what the bottom of my own literary barrel is. :)

  6. Never read anything I was really ashamed of, that choice is your own.

  10. Oh! I have to admit my ignorance & say I don't know what Western Chic literature is.

Don't think I've read anything I'm ashamed of. I heard a few of my swimming mates talking about a book they're ashamed of reading & hide it when they're on a bus or in the house. They said it had no story but was very erotic. It's called Fifty Shades of Grey. Had to admit I'd never heard of it so I looked it up. It's described as Lady Chatterly for the Twitter age! Well I don't Twitter & it's not up my street! I'll stick to Inspector Montalbano & my other crime books.

  11. Hi Gigi Ann

A while since I had time to visit my blog friends. Just stopped by to say Helllooo and hope you are well.

I am not one for buying books that are hyped up, so never read the Harry Potter series.
Saying that I did buy Shades of Grey trilogy, just have to see for myself whether it is worth the hype.
