This week’s musing hosted by MizB at Should Be Reading asks…
Do the members of your family read? Do you think it was passed down to you? ((or, if you want you can answer this: Who do you think influenced you as a reader?))
When my daughters have the time they love to read. My nine year old Granddaughter Mercedez' loves to read, so I have fun picking out books for her and sending her a book each month to read. If I miss a month or two, I get a letter letting me know I forgot. ; )
I think school was my biggest influence as far as my reading goes. As soon as I learned how to read, I loved reading my little reading books about, Jane and Dick and Spot the dog. I can't remember a time I didn't love to read. Except...when I was in high school, required reading was a struggle for me, because I was to busy having fun doing other fun things with my friends. After all there were dances to attend, roller skating, and movies, etc. How about you, who influenced your reading?

This week is a "Freebie Week" meaning I can choose anything I want. Since I've always enjoyed this song by Allen Jackson, I hope you enjoy it also.
Schools were not really an influence to me for reading. I mostly disliked school but loved to read because of my parents and feel of a book.
ReplyDeletesince I was reading...and loving it...before I was in school, I think it came from my mother more than anyone else. I always remember having books around.
ReplyDeleteLOVE Alan Jackson and LOVE that song! :)
ReplyDeleteMy parents influenced my love of reading - my dad got rid of our TV when we were very young because he thought it was a bad influence, so my mom would take us to the library once a week...I'd end up checking out at least 7 books at a time so I'd have a book a day to read! I'm happy to see that Princess Nagger has a love of reading, too - she's been devouring books like nobody's business. :)
Hold It Against Me - Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not?
I wish I had family members to discuss books with but no one in my family is a reader. That is why I so enjoy this community of book blogging. I can not remember ever not having a book in hand.
ReplyDeleteI love giving books to young kids as presents - I always pick out books for my nieces and nephews and love that they love books as much as I do.
ReplyDeleteMy answer can be found here.
I come from a family of readers and so far have produced kids that are readers! Wish my husband was a reader now that the kids are college age.
ReplyDeleteThis song makes me thoughtful. Wonder if my dh would love me again if he had the choice.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Enjoy your Monday!
I had not heard that song for a long time. Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember Bob, but I do remember Dick and Jane and the little dog Spot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
@Faith... I couldn't remember Dick, so I just threw in Bob, thanks for the reminder, I corrected it. It was only 64 years since I read my first Jane, Dick and Spot books. ; )
ReplyDeleteThat such a pretty song. I haven't heard it in like forever. Thanks for reminding me country music still moves me. Thanks for playing along, and hope to see you next week too.
ReplyDeleteI think your "dancer" up there is dancing faster that your singer. lol
ReplyDeleteCountry music can certainly move some of us. ;)
