"Z" Is For "Zeppelin" ABC Wednesday

Photos by Daniel Terdiman
 "A Vast Zeppelin The Eureka"
Currently this is the world's longest Zeppelin, named "Eureka.
Airship Ventures is a commercial business with the aircraft, selling rides over the Bay Area. They are located at Moffett Field at NASA Ames Research Center near Mountain View, California.
This is the Zeppelin taking off. Unlike a blimp, the Zeppelin's internal airframe and flexible rotors allow it it take off much like a helicopter.
The cockpit and the passengers on the Zeppelin are not separated. This is one of the two pilots, seen to the left of the instrument panel of the Zeppelin.
Once aboard the Eureka and in the air, the passengers are allowed to unbuckle their seat belts and walk around. The passengers compartment features large picture windows with great views from all directions. This view shows NASA Ames Research Center Moffett Field including the massive Hangar 1 (white center) as well as Eureka's underside as it flies over Silicon Valley.
As you can see people can move about freely in the Zeppelin and take in views from all directions. Wouldn't that be fun?
I thought this was interesting, it is the restroom on board the Eureka. Notice it features a window allowing occupant to see out, and not miss any of the scenery below.
This is a view of Stanford University's football stadium from above Palo Alto, California, from the Zeppelin.
Can you see the shadow of the Eureka as it returns for arrival at Moffett Field?
Watching the Eureka land (shown here seconds before touching down) is impressive, as the airship is 246 feet long, longer than a Boeing 747.
Now wasn't that fun? I'm ready for a ride on a Zeppelin! Is everyone else ready to take a ride on a Zeppelin with me?

All the Photos of the Zeppelin Eureka were taken by, Daniel Terdiman, CNET Networks. Most of the Caption by: Daniel Terdiman, and the rest by me.
THANK YOU... Mr. Terdiman.

Here we have: John Paul Jones, Robert Plant, Jason Bonham, and Jimmy Page of the group, "Led Zeppelin" Gigi Ann's choice of the "Z's"!!! Tee, hee. ; )

  4. You know, I'm not sure if I'd want to take a ride in one. I keep remembering about the Hindenberg...although I know that would never happen again. All the same......Great choice for the week. :D

  18. From those photos, I'd say YES! Would love to take a ride. If it goes up in the air, I want to try it at least once. So far just all sizes of planes. Hot air balloon next?
