Disappointment July 1, 2010
Oh! this is an easy one this week. The author that left me disappointed was John Grisham I'm sad to say. When I first started to read his books, The Firm, The Pelican Brief, etc., I found them a bit exciting and suspenseful. However, the last few books I read of his, The Painted House, and Playing For Pizza I found very boring. It took me about six months to get The Painted House read. I would read a while and put it aside, read something else, pick it up and read some more, until I got the whole book read. I thought maybe it was just me. Therefore, I gave the book to my daughter-in-law to read, not telling her how boring it was. A few weeks later, she ask, "Did you like that book, I thought it was really boring." I agreed with her. I also found Playing For Pizza boring as well, although just to be fair, I read it straight through, from beginning to end. However, I haven't completely given up on John I have two of his books on my bookshelf waiting to be read. They are Bleachers and The King Of Torts. I am planning on reading a few reviews of them, before I decide if I am going to read them or not.Name a book or author that you truly wanted to love but left you disappointed. (And, of course, explain why.)
I can't remember the last time I didn't finish a book. And now that I've started my own unofficial reviewing, I figured it'd only be fair to finish them even if I don't like them and then share with others what I thought - luckily, I haven't felt like putting down any of the books I've been reading recently!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Booking Through Thursday.
Now that you mention him, I did feel the same way about his books. I started reading The King of Torts and didn't get very far.

It's been years since I read a Grisham book. I enjoyed the ones that I did read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! You know, I enjoy the movies made out of his books (at least some of them), but I have yet to be able to enjoy his books.
