Hot! July 15, 2010

btt button
Well, folks, I don’t know about where you are, but right here, it’s HOT.
So … when you think about “hot reading,” what does that make you think of? Beach reading? Steamy romances? Books that take place in hot climates? Or cold ones?

I had never thought of it in quite that way, what does that make me think of? Hmmmm.... Most of the time weather hot or cold doesn't effect my reading, all I want is a good storyline. However,  from what I've been reading lately, I guess I think about stories that have a summertime setting. I don't mind a little light romance in the books I read, but I don't like the Steamy Hot romance in what I'm reading, I say if there is a good storyline going, who needs the Hot, Steamy romance anyway, in my viewpoint, it is just filler, and ruins the storyline for me. Give me a good story anytime, and I'm a Happy "Hot"  Reader.

  1. Being a fan of sci-fi and fantasy, I find it amusing sometimes when authors try to put a bit of romance (aka a love scene) into a story. A lot of times, you realize why the author went into the genre. Because the scenes are almost too clinical and will bring the plot to a screeching (no pun intended) halt.

  3. I totally agree!! Its the storyline that matters. I also agree that the steamy parts are just page fillers.

  4. Reading is more a mood kind of issue for me. Climate does not figure into it!

    Here is my "hot" post!

  5. I like the steamy stuff too! But like you, I want what I'm reading (or writing for that matter) to have a story line.

  6. I would agree with you--I don't need the steamy hot intercourse either! As you can tell, I'm into pretty heavy reading. (I will admit, however, that I read a book titled "Sex, Lies, and Vampires" recently...OH MY...it was terribly hilarious, and the author knew it.) Anyway, you are quite right--who needs those scenes when you have a fantastic plot (and characters)!

Thank you for stopping by...I really appreciate it! Enjoy your summer and enjoy your reading!

  7. I agree about the romance the story should be able to stand on it's own without a whole lot of it, sometimes just the thought of romance is better and I think you're right for the most part it is a fille!

  8. The actual weather doesn't really determine what I read; but I do like the idea of reading a book during the same season as the season in the setting. I'm loving your sidebar quote because I read a lot of old books.

  9. The weather has nothing to do with my reading either. But did you notice new releases usually coincide with the current weather or season they are released.

  10. Purple Girl... Yes I noticed that, I guess that is why I have been reading Summertime books this year.

Thanks everyone for stopping by and leaving such nice comments.

  11. I haven't taken the time to read a book lately. I read mostly while waiting at school for the granddaughter. One way to fill my time, rather than just sit there watching the other people. So I will start reading again around the middle of Aug. I had never read Danielle Steel books until this past year. They aren't that steamy, at least not the few I have read so far. I also like True Murder stories. Happy reading.

  12. Summer is the perfect time to sit outside and read, if the temperature is bearable. As far as "hot" reading goes, I think of it this way--certain books are currently "hot"; they are talked about and blogged about and it seems as if everyone is reading them. :)
