"The Sound of Music" My Thoughts...

A little rant and raving this morning....One of my favorite things is Musical Movies. I looked forward to watching this new movie with Carrie Underwood since I first heard it advertised. I marked my calendar so there would be no forgetting to watch it. Well, to my amazement it fell on a Thursday evening, now since I am never home on Thursday nights, I was disappointed. I do not have cable anymore, just the antenna, and my recorder isn't hooked up right (have to get something done about that real soon!) Anyway, I called my friend next door and asked if she was taping the show, she said yes. I asked if she would invite me over to watch it with her and her hubby, and they did. Yippee!! We watched it Sunday evening and I loved it.

I have read some reviews, and heard many did not like it. They even compared it to the movie with Julie Andrews, how superfluous is that! (And they are making a big issue because Ms. Andrews didn't watch it) Of course the live presentation wouldn't  be as flowery as the movie. It was LIVE, no stopping and doing it over. Any mistakes had to stay, which I really didn't see any mistakes that I can recall. I thought Carrie did a wonderful little acting job even though some didn't like her acting either. I saw nothing wrong with it, and I enjoyed her singing it was a joy to watch. What else can I say other than I LOVED IT.  I liked it so much I awarded it 5 stars out of 5 stars. We need more good family entertainment like this movie. Does anyone in the universe hear me? I doubt it...Well that is the end of my rant and raving for today!

  1. I agree with you. I compared it to the theater, not to a movie. It was not a movie that could have umpteen retakes. Live theater is once and that's it. As you, I didn't see any major (or really any minor)flaws. The singing was great and the kids were wonderful, too.
