Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week I'm reading a memoir "From Pigtails to Chin Hairs" by Becky Lewellen Povich. It is a series of finely drawn vignettes that makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you want to sit down and have a cup of tea with Becky.
My Teaser: "My mother told me in so many words she thought I was nuts. She honestly believed my accident at Woolworth’s—involving an ice machine, a crowbar, and my head—caused severe brain damage. In her way of thinking, it was the only possible explanation for what she considered the erratic behavior I developed soon after." Why not visit Becky's Blog she loves visitors.
Oh, I am already drawn in by this excerpt. Now I'm curious about the "erratic behavior."
ReplyDeleteHere's MY TUESDAY MEMES POST
This sounds like a book I could get into reading. Here is my TT: http://meandu-justthinking.blogspot.ca/2013/12/teaser-tuesdays-dec-10.html
ReplyDeleteWhat a great teaser (I first typed treasure and I think that would also be a description.) Thanks for visiting.

An ice machine, crowbar and her head? That is indeed an intriguing teaser. Mine: A Carol For a Corpse
ReplyDeleteI not a big fan of memoir but I like the sound of this one :)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite reads is Memoirs. Love the title and pic. Thanks, this one is going down on my TBR list. (to be read)

Hi Ann,
ReplyDeleteWhilst I have very eclectic reading tastes, I am not a huge fan of memoires, so this book is unlikely to make it onto my reading list, despite those excellent teaser lines.
I am intrigued to know exactly what kind of erratic behaviour is being referred to here and I am still coming to terms with the notion that Becky's mother considers her to have received brain damage from her accident, rather than being able to come to terms with the fact that some of the blame would appear to belong with her.
Great teaser lines and I hope that you enjoy the book,
Yvonne
Huh, makes me wonder at what age the incident happened. :) Thanks for sharing & stopping by!
ReplyDeleteGreat teaser! I think I'm going to have to track this one down now and read for myself. =)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Ann, for posting this teaser from my memoir! What a neat surprise! And wow, what awesome comments! I'm going to stop by each one and check out their blogs, too. You're wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really good! Ill definitely have to check this out :) Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an interesting memoir!
