"Musing Mondays"

MusingMondays5MizB's Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• What book are you currently desperate to get your hands on? Tell us about it!
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
• Do you have a bookish rant? Something about books or reading (or the industry) that gets your ire up? Share it with us!
• Instead of the above questions, maybe you just want to ramble on about something else pertaining to books — let’s hear it, then! On to my kind of a rant....

“Have you ever read a book from your most favorite author that disappointed you, bordering on removing her/him from your list of favorite authors?”

I"m sorry I have to say...Yes to that question. I, at one time was a fan of John Grisham & Nich0las Sparks, but, became disappointed in some of their books, so therefore, I very seldom read a book by them anymore. I guess you could say my answer is short and bittersweet, because occasionally I will break down and read a book by Sparks, and then hate myself for it. Why is he throwing in the "Supernatural" in his stories lately, I hate 'supernatural' reading. So now I have decided I won't be reading anymore of his novels.
Over the week-end I read a book by Ruth Ann Norton, who was an author I enjoyed reading once in awhile, but now I am beginning to think twice about reading anymore of her books. The one I read over the week-end was just so disappointing. If you are interested in my thoughts about that book you can find them on my "Book Lover's Journal"
Have you given up on any of your favorite authors?

  1. I have done the same with authors. Grisham is one I quit reading and there a re several other that just no longer cut it.

  2. Oh, I hate it when this happens! Sometimes I feel like a particular author just runs out of steam after awhile. I hate to say this, but I'm starting to feel this way about Jodi Picoult. I used to LOVE every book she published--but lately I just can't get into her stories. I keep reading her books, though, in the hope that she'll make a comeback for me.

  3. Gigi Ann, thank you for your honest answer to this musing. Hmmm... I can't say I've really given up on any authors.

  4. I haven't given up on any of my favorite authors, but I've read some books by them that I hated. For instance, I love Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but I hated his book The Autumn of the Patriarch - it was one of the most boring books I've ever read.

  5. As much as I hate to say it yes this has happened to me before. Most recently it happened with Jodi Picoult, I have not read anything else by her yet though I did not remove her from my shelves I don't think I would fully remove an Author from my shelves if I liked them before the stinker.

Thanks for stopping by Fire & Ice
