"The Last Camellia"

A romantic and suspenseful tale about two women whose destiny is bound across the years

On the eve of World War II, the last surviving specimen of a camellia plant known as the Middlebury Pink lies secreted away on an English country estate. Flora, an amateur American botanist, is contracted by an international ring of flower thieves to infiltrate the household and acquire the coveted bloom. Her search is at once brightened by new love and threatened by her discovery of a series of ghastly crimes.

More than half a century later, garden designer Addison takes up residence at the manor, now owned by the family of her husband, Rex. The couple’s shared passion for mysteries is fueled by the enchanting camellia orchard and an old gardener’s notebook. Yet its pages hint at dark acts ingeniously concealed. If the danger that Flora once faced remains very much alive, will Addison share her fate?

My Thoughts...

I couldn't wait for this book to be released, and yesterday it arrived in my Nook. I started reading it immediately and I was not disappointed...
This book was terrific, suspenseful, an intoxicating blend of mystery, history and romance. This is the third book I've read by Sarah Jio, and I must say she never disappoints me, I have loved every book I've read of hers.

I found this a fascinating and delightful book to read. Since I liked the Downton Abbey series on TV, I found some parts of the book reminding me of that English estate with it's butler, and housekeeper. I thought the ending tied everything together nicely, wherein we were given a glimpse into the life of the children of the 40's all grown up, and very briefly we see and learn what happened to the nanny, Flora, and Desmond at the very end. However, you have to be on your toes and not miss it, because in the blink of an eye you may miss it....

The only problem I had was the struggle to put the book down, and attend to other things for the last two days, like eating and sleeping...

I guess you have guessed by now that this was a 5***** book for me, I loved it. This book is a part of my Nook library.
