"Booking Through Thursday"

Do you lend your books? Are any out on loan right now? Do you have any that have been loaned to you? Do you put a time limit on these? Do you think people should make an effort to read the loaned book quickly?

Yes I loan books out. However, I'm selfish, the books I loan out are only books I have already read, because so often loaner books never come home again. But I must say that isn't a problem for me, because most of my friends return the books when they have finished with them.

I have about 12 books that are out on loan right now. Not only that, but since I bought a new Kindle, I loaned my old Kindle to a friend to use and enjoy reading whatever books strike her fancy. I do have a book that I borrowed from a friend, I've read it, she lives close by, so when the snow melts, I'll return it.

I never put a time limit on how long I keep a book, or they can keep the books. I read for fun and entertainment, and time limits cause stress, and when I read I want to be stress free and I want my friends to be stress free as well.  That being said, I don't expect them to read the books quickly, that would cause stress.

Do you loan books to friends?

  1. I generally just give them away when I am done. Not enough room in the house to keep all the books I read.

  2. Time limits are not part of my lending policy either, but like you, I don't lend out books I haven't yet read.

Thanks for visiting my blog! And have a great reading weekend.

  5. I definitely would only loan books I've read. Nothing would possess me to give someone an unread book!!
You are a very generous friend! I loan my books, but inside, I'm always terrified and I can't relax about it. =) thanks for stopping by!

  7. My short answer is "it depends". I rarely loan out books I like to return to for quotes etc. If it's a book I don't think I'm going to need again any time soon then it doesn't matter.

  8. I don't lend books but I wouldn't mind giving them away after I've read them. I wouldn't want them back.

  9. You are a nice book lender :)
I learned the hard way not to loan books that I really like, because I know will never see them again.
That being said, I don't have the heart to refuse my sister in law whenever she stops by to borrow a book from my personal library.

  10. I lend books out, too! I don't miss them but I do expect to get them back. How wonderful that you are willing to lend your Kindle out also.

  11. I loan books to friends that I've read too but like you, it's always books I've already read! They rarely get returned back to me so then there are no hard feelings.

  12. It depends on which friend I loan it to. If it's those that I trust, who have borrowed AND returned the books in the same condition, then they get to borrow and maybe keep them for a month or two... then I run after them... LOL

  13. Loaner books never come home again - I thought it only happens in my part of the world.

(Sorry my internet was acting up)
