"Booking Through Thursday"

Any reading resolutions for the new year? Reading more? (Reading less?) Reading better books? Bigger books? More series? More relaxing books?
And hey, feel free to talk about any other resolutions you might have, too … or why you choose NOT to have any.
First off let me say: "I am not a resolution maker." When I use to make resolutions, I never followed through with them anyway. However, thinking about my reading for this year, I have decided I will be reading alot of books from my TBR pile this year. I would have to say the books I choose to read are more relaxing books, than the books I read for book tours, and I have a few of them to read this year.

I am going to be more relaxed this year about my reading. I'm only participating in 3 (three) 2013 reading challenges. I won't be trying to read more books than I read in 2012. I will probably be reading less books this year, (time will tell) and doing a few other things I enjoy as well, like watching a few TV shows I enjoy.

As far as anything else I have on my plate, I'm really going to try to eat healthier, less fat and fatty foods. That was something my doctor suggested in October 2011, so I guess it's time to follow the doctors orders, starting this year. And also, my doctor would like me to drop a few pounds. I was talking to my sister last week, who I haven't seen for a few years, and she wanted to know if I was still a little chubby, so maybe I should give some serious thought to dropping a few pounds. ; ) However, it is easier said than done, especially when I like eating lunch out every day. Enough about me....how about you....

Are you making any changes in your reading schedule for the coming year, 2013?

  1. Those sound like great resolutions. I am definitely on board with reading books on the TBR pile. Mine keeps growing and it's time to address that! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. We're on the same wavelength here, with fewer review books; more from our own stacks; and healthy choices. My doctor has been singing the same tune as yours! lol

  4. I'm doing more reading for enjoyment and less obligatory reviews. Healthwise, I'm similar. I need to drop some weight and I'm working on my plan to do that.

  5. Yes, it can be stressful when you have to read lots of books for different challenges.

  6. I don't really have any deadlines connected with reading except when I borrow from the library. I recently bought a Kindle so I expect that will affect my habits a bit. my BTT post

  8. Hi Gigi-Ann,

My resolutions are pretty much the same as yours, especially the health and weight loss aspects, although friends gave us huge boxes of chocolates for Christmas, so I guess the programme will have to start when the evidence has all been eaten!!

I have taken on so many author review requests, that I really don't know where to start ... but I just can't say 'NO'!

I would ideally like to start reducing my ever growing personal TBR pile, but I just can't see that happening short term.

There are definitely no challenges for me this year, they are just too constricting with book choices and to be honest, my reading is going so slowly at the moment, that the likelihood of my completing a challenge is probably non existent!

I am hoping that the New Year will see the return of my reading 'mojo', however if I manage to get paid work, I can see me having even less time to sit and relax with a book!

    Happy 2013,

    Yvonne

  10. Excellent plan for 2013! I'm going to try and read more books for my own enjoyment.

  11. Three reading challenges - wow! I could only dream that with all the other required readings. I'm not a 'resolution maker' either.

  12. I hope to finish the Robyn Carr series - or get caught up to it anyway. I have one reading challenge. I also hope to have more readers to my blog.

Other 'resolutions' - lose weight - as I am a borderline diabetic right now and to cook at least one new meal a month for my family. =)
