"Musing Mondays"

There are a lot of books being made into movies, these days (“Anna Karenina“; etc). So, in this week’s musing MizB asks — courtesy of http://abookandashortlatte.wordpress.com— asks…
Have you ever read a book after watching the movie/television version only to find that you don’t like the book as much as the adaptation?
I can't think of one movie I've watched first and than watched the movie version. If I know a movie is based on a book, I always read the book before viewing the movie. The books are always much better than the movies, in my opinion. However, I am sure I've watched many movies based on books, I just didn't know it at the time. Aren't most movies based on a book? I don't know.

  4. Books are made into movies, and not the other way around, although there could be exceptions!! :)

  5. Happens to me too that I am not aware a movie or tvshow is based on a book. Sometimes I even read the book.

  7. I'm a fan of the books, too, I can't think of anything I read after seeing the movie.

  9. Oh, and if I plan on reading the book, I always do that before seeing the movie. The one exception that I can think of was The Help. I couldn't wait and had to watch the movie before reading the book, and I loved it! Still haven't read the book.

  10. I like to read the books first. But in some cases, like "The Notebook", I watched the film first and loved it so much that I can't bring myself to read the novel. I feel like, the film is enough.

  11. I have done this several times. Almost always the book is better but I have experience one exception. After seeing Julie and Julia, I had to read the book but I was so disappointed. What was funny in the movie, thanks to an incredible script and the acting talents of Meryl Streep as Julia Child and Amy Adams as Julie Powell, was just ok in the book. I didn't enjoy the book nearly so much though due to crude and foul language. It just ruined the story for me while the movie is still one of my favourites!
