"Musing Mondays"

This week’s musing at Should Be Reading— courtesy of sarrod22.blogspot.com– asks…
What is your least favorite book? Why?
I almost didn't play along this week, but, looking over the books I've read so far this year, I noticed one that I did not like at all. I will not name the book or the author, I don't feel that would be fair to the author, because I know they put a lot of time and hard work into writing books and I respect that.
I read this book for a book tour, therefore I read it from the beginning to the ending, and the book was free, so that was the only good thing I found about the book.  I found the plot very morbid,  but if you would like a book about a group of sick people who are all planning on committing suicide together, than this book would be to your liking, however, I did not find that an entertaining storyline.  Also, I've read a few books this year that were ruined for me because of the paranormal content that was written into the books. I feel that when any kind of paranormal is written into the book we should be told somewhere in the description of the book. Or better yet they should be listed in the paranormal genre. Then I wouldn't spend between $12 & $20 dollars for these books that I hate. Yes I do buy most of the books I read.
Do you have a least favorite book you read lately?

  1. I agree that a good, interesting plot is essential but a good plot can be subjective. one man's trash is another man's treasure, right? I respect your decision to withhold the name of the author and the title of the book. thanks for stopping by today!

  2. Yes, I agree that those kinds of books are not fun for me, either. Mine today is one I reviewed for Amazon Vine, so I felt I had to finish it. Here's MY MUSING MONDAYS POST

  3. I'm with you on the paranormal. I don't ever think I would even try reading one. Not into fantasy and wouldn't be able to connect with the characters.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great week.

Well, I don't like to say a book sucks...but when I write review, I remember that people might be going to spend their hard earned dollars on this book, so I have an obligation to warn them.

  5. I hate when the description doesn't match the book well. I also don't like when the covers, especially including people or places, don't match what the author has written.

I try to be very picky about the books I except for reviews. I don't like wasting my time reading a book I don't like but feel obligated to finish.

    Thanks for stopping by!

  6. It is really disappointing when a book is so far off from our expectations in a bad way. Thanks for visiting!

  7. I especially hate when other people are raving or hyping the book and I just don't like it.

  8. Another new header and change of blog design! You keep it interesting. :)

The book sounds morbid to me, too.

  9. Hi Gigi Ann,

Like you, I do have one book which I found it very difficult to connect with, although as it was an author request to review, I don't want to name either the book or author, as I don't think it was a particularly bad book, I just couldn't connect to the extreme fantasy elements of it.

I don't think that after this experience, I shall be taking on any more books from the genre, as it just isn't fair to the author or publisher.

    Interesting post,

    Yvonne
