"Musing Mondays"

This week’s musing at Should Be Reading — courtesy of http://abookandashortlatte.wordpress.com – asks…
Do you take notes while you read?
Yes and No...There are times I jot down my thoughts about the book as I'm reading. If it is something I'm studying I write notes, but most of the time when I'm reading for "Fun and Entertainment," I don't take notes.... unless it is a quote of something I want to remember.
Some of my favorite quotes from books....

"Lizzie had often heard that people started to look like their spouses or their pets after many years of living together. She believed the same applied to people and their houses...Molly matched the house...both she and the house were topped with gray."~~~  A Reader Kill, by Erika Chase.

"A town without a bookstore is like a chicken with one
leg." ~~~The Cat Who Talked Turkey, by Lillian Jackson Braum

"My face looks like a wedding cake left out in the rain."~~~In The Bag, by Kate Klise.~~~ W.H. Auden from a poem by him.

"I find all men to be very much like wearing high-heeled shoes---I love how pretty they make me feel, but by the end of the night I can't wait to get rid of them."~~~ Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt, by Beth Hoffman.

"It's what we believe about ourselves that determines how others see us." ~~~Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt, by Beth Hoffman.

"It's how we survive the hurts in life that brings us strength and gives us our beauty."~~~Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt, by Beth Hoffman.

"Betsy said, "There's an Amish saying, 'We grow too soon old and too late smart."~~~Buttons and Bones, by Monica Ferris.

"A clever woman lets a man chase her until she catches him."~~~Buttons and Bones, by Monica Ferris.

  1. Since I found the book blogging community and writing reviews, I do tend to take notes so that I don't forget items that I want in my review. Have a great week.

  8. I normally do not, but there are times when I do. I think I underlined a couple of those same quotes from Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt.

  9. Hi Gigi Ann,

I would never write or underline anything in a book, I don’t even like making creases in the spine from opening the pages.

I guess it must be OCD of some kind, because I can’t even bring myself to underline anything on my Kindle!

I do make notes when I am reading though, as I find that it helps to jog the memory later, when I come to write my review.

Also, if I am featuring the book in any memes, I write down the relevant passages or words as I come across them.

    Interesting post this week,

    Yvonne

  10. I often write down quotes if I particularly like them. Otherwise I don't. Too much like studying!

  11. I can't remember the last time I took notes. So, I guess the answer is no :)
