"Musing Mondays"

This week MizB's musing, courtesy of http://readbookswritepoetry.blogspot.in, asks:
What attracts you to a book blog? What puts you off in a book blog? Do you share personal stuff on your book blog?
Hmmm...What attracts me to a book blog is... the book reviews and things having to do with books. I enjoy the book memes such as this one that MizB hosts each week.
What puts me off in a book blog is... if the reviews are long and drawn out. I like more of a short and to the point book review.  Just give me the facts, let me know if you liked the book. I am also put off if the books being read are not a genre I read. (examples: paranormal, witches, wizards, erotica) those books and book blogs just don't interest me.
Do I share personal stuff on my book blog? On my Book Lust Journal, where I post all my book reviews,  I do share personal stuff occasionally, but not often.
What attracts you to a book blog, and do you get personal on your blog?
P.S. After visiting a few blogs, I must say I am turned off with Word Verification. Those crazy words are difficult to figure out. So for future if there is Word Verification I will not be commenting. Sorry that is just my opinion, but figure I am entitled to it. If my blog has it please leave me know. Thank you.

  2. I'm trying to make my reviews shorter but sometimes it's hard. Your list of don't read genres is close to mine. Have a great week, Ann!

  3. I agree with you. I'd rather read a concise to the point review. That's one of the reasons I changed my format so that visitors can see right away what rating I gave it. Like you, I'm not into the new rave genre of reads, however, in my travels, it seems blogs of that genre are out numbering blogs like ours.

  4. I dislike the Word Verification too and started to put that in my post. I like short review too. I never read all of the long one. Thanks for visiting.

  5. Yeah I agree with you on the dislikes, I don't like long reviews or word verification. Sometimes it takes me like 5 or 6 different tries lol.

  6. I agree with you about the word verification, especially the Blogger Captcha that is almost impossible for my elderly eyes to read! lol

Sometimes it takes two or three tries before I get it right!

  8. Thanks for stopping by my blog :)

I agree with all the points you've made in your own entry, including the word verification! I get so annoyed when I have to type those 2-3 times to get them right.

  9. You're right, sometimes reviews can get a bit too long. If they are too long, tend to skim them instead. Thanks for visiting!

I have to admit I'm guilty of writing up long book reviews....I just can't help myself :P
I dislike word verification as well.
I enjoy book blogs that are entertaining with well written reviews.

  12. Hi! Thanks for the visit to my blog!

"What puts me off in a book blog is... if the reviews are long and drawn out."

Oh I'm in trouble then! I have a tendency to write long reviews but that's because I have got so many things to say!
