"Musing Mondays"

For this week MizB's musing, I borrowed a question from the “I’m Loving Books” blog. It asks…
Have you ever read a book that, at the time, you didn’t feel a strong connection towards, but as time goes by you find yourself thinking about it a lot?

I always find myself this way when I read "Hester Browne's" books. For some reason I find them a bit slow reading, (she is an English author, maybe that makes a difference)  but after I finish reading her books  I find I really enjoyed the books. I just read one of her books two weeks ago, "The Finishing Touches" (this is the fourth book by her I've read) and found after I finished reading it, I said, "Hey, I rather enjoyed that book, even though it seemed to move along pretty slow." Go figure...

Does that ever happen to you?

  1. I tend to forget everything about a book that I didn't enjoy. Have a great week!!

  2. I'm like CMash. Some book I forget immediately after reading but not all. Thanks for visiting.

  3. I tend to have most books I read these days blend into a giant mind cloud.

  5. Good musing today! Usually, though, I think about a book while I'm reading it, as well as afterward. (A sign of a good book to me is one that I remember and think about for a long time, and hope to reread.)

  6. That's a good question, its happened to me too. When I read Love in the Time of Cholera I actually disliked the characters but I couldn't put the book down. I found myself thinking about the book long after I finished reading.

  7. That actually happens to me a lot. I'm not totally okay with slower-paced books, but then again, if the story's moving to fast, then it's harder to keep up. Slower-paced book actually give you the opportunity to get to know each individual character better. (In my opinion.)

Check out my MM post? I kind of modified the whole meme. Err. A lot. Here's the link (:

  8. I've never read a Hester Browne book, so you have me intrigued. I'll have to check some out.

For me, I always want to go back and read the classics. I know I would appreciate so much more about them now than I could back in the day when it was an assignment.

  9. It's so true that you come to appreciate some books more as you think about it or grow older. I loved Curtis Sittenfeld's Prep when I read it the first time at 14, but read it last summer at 19 and could really appreciate it more the second time around. I just found your blog and will definitely be following it from now on :] A few days ago I posted a summer reading list and good reads on my new blog if you want to check it out: http://heartisinthewriteplace.blogspot.com/

    Thanks again!
