"Booking Through Thursday"

btt button
A while ago, I interviewed my readers for a change, and my final question was, “What question have I NOT asked at BTT that you’d love me to ask?” I got some great responses and will be picking out some of the questions from time to time to ask the rest of you. Like now.
Margaret asks:
Who taught you to read?

I learned to read when I started to school. My first grade teacher was the one who taught me the basics of reading, and each teacher after that added to what I had already learned. I remember when reading clicked into my brain with the words for and fore. I have no idea why those two words made an impression on me, but they did. It was so exciting to realize I could figure out words and I could read, "Spot can run"...."Jane ran too"...or something like that...I loved it.

So do you remember who taught you to read?

  9. I'm pretty sure I was able to read before I got to kindergarten. We had a lot of books in our home and my mother read to us when we were very young. But I do remember being very happy to read and recognize the very simple words in the books I first read at school, the Dick and Jane books.

I was happy the day I got the spelling of Orange correct. I didn't forget the 'e'! :-)
