"Booking Through Thursday"

BTT

If someone asked you for a book recommendation, what is the FIRST book you’d think to recommend (without extra thought)?
I have to say I am not one who recommends books very often. The reason is we all have different tastes in our reading genres, and what I may love the next person may hate. However, this is the FIRST book that came to mind, and I liked it a lot. It's by Kristin Hannah entitled "Night Road" You can read my review here.

How about you, do you recommend books to others?

  1. I'm always reluctant to recommend books, too. Prefer to just say whether I liked it or not and then let everyone decide for themselves.
Kristin Hannah is one author I haven't read yet, but I've got one or two of her books on my TBR list.

  5. Oh, I loved Night Road...I don't know why it didn't immediately spring to mind, but I think my head is usually full of whatever I recently loved.

I kind of cheated a bit here at MY THURSDAY MEMES POST

  6. The only Kristin Hannah book I have read is Firefly Lane, but my wife has read them all apart from the latest one. She'll probably get round to that one soon, too.

  7. Like you, the older I get the more hesitant I am to recommend books because everyone's tastes are so different. Night Road is a good choice. I might recommend The Help because everyone seems to like it!

  8. I have a few of her books, don't know if I've read this one though. Will have to check.

  9. I am reluctant as well, for similar reasons. As a book blogger, I am asked in conversations what I'd recommend. I try to tailor my answers to the person's tastes (and I may ask a few questions).

  10. I had a hard time with this question.

  11. I've heard good things about that book. I tend to recommend whatever I've recently read that I enjoyed.

  12. I think I read something else by that author but just now I can't remember neither title nor what it was about...

  13. Hi Ann,

I make it a point never to recommend books (or anything else for that matter), as personal taste comes into things so much these days.

That is why I don't really like to rate books, although many sites such as Amazon and Smashwords, just won't let you leave a review without a rating.

I also always call my review posts 'My Thoughts About ...', because that is exactly what it is.

Good question though and some pretty varied responses.

    Yvonne
