"Musing Mondays"

This week Miz B at Should Be Reading musing asks…
When you walk into a bookstore — any bookstore — what’s the first section you head toward (what draws you)?
I usually head for the new releases, (preference's in paperback.) After I check out the new releases, I head for the sales tables.
I'm really not drawn to any particular section, I always carry a list of books that I'm interested in.  And I usually go the customer service and ask someone to help me find the books.  I have to admit, unless the books almost jump off the shelves, I have trouble finding the books I want. I've learned I save time by just asking for help right away.

I have to admit, since I got my NookColor, and my Kindle, in January 2012, I do my book shopping from my easy chair on them. But.....
My favorite bookstore is Barnes & Noble, what is your favorite bookstore?

  5. Barnes and Noble are the only big bookstores around here, so that's where I head. There may be a new used books store that recently opened up, but I get my used books from library sales.

  6. New Releases and Mystery for sure. I like having in my mind what I have seen around the blogosphere vs what they choose to present.

Love my Kindle and so don't go in bookstores really but when I do, I always walk out with one at least.

  7. Hi Gigi Ann,

We have a really good local independent bookstore in the town where I live, although it is quite small and their stock is limited, unless you know what you want so they can order it in.

If I just want to browse and make an impulse purchase, then I generall wait until we visit family in a larger town, once a month, where there is a Waterstones.

To be honest, most of my books come from the bookshelves of charity shops, or are ordered via my kindle.

I very seldom go for new releases, but that doesn't really bother me too much.

    Have a great week.

    Yvonne

  9. I also love Barnes & Noble, and I also ask for help, more often than not, to find whatever book(s) I'm looking for. My favorite online bookstore is Amazon, of course!

  12. My favorite bookstore for years was Waldenbooks who changed to Borders. I also love Books A Million. Since there aren't any very close, I have to shop online. If I want to go to a books store, I go to Barnes & Noble.

  17. Barnes & Noble is the bookstore I go to, also, but I haven't been there in a while. I have a Kindle now, too, and get books from Amazon's website. I do miss walking through a bookstore and looking at the books on the shelves, though.

  19. I have visited almost all the bookstores in my town and love most of them. I love going to a book store.

Kindle, no matter how convenient it is, can't give a feel of a book store. Books stacked together, scent of fresh paper and ink, the feel of taking a book in your hand and flipping through the pages...
