"Musing Mondays"

This week Miz B at Should Be Reading musing asks…
Do you read books that are part of a series?
• Do you collect all the books in the series before starting? What if the series is brand new, and the only book that’s been published so far is Book one? As subsequent books in the series are published, do you go back and re-read the preceding books?
I do read books that are part of a series, however, I don't collect all the books in the series. If a series is brand new and  sounds interesting I will read it. I just read the first book of a series over the week-end, "Doggone" by D. M. Buckley, and I am now looking forward to reading the next one in the series. Again if the series is interesting I will read subsequent books. I never go back and re-read the preceding books. If I need a reminder about any of the books I've read, I go back and read what I've written about it in my Book Lust Journal.

How about you, do you read series books?

  3. I do enjoy a good series, especially if the MC is funny, quirky, or just feels like a friend.

  5. Hi Ann,

I am the worlds worst for reading a book, then discovering it is part of a series and I have joined it somewhere in the middle!

I certainly don't collect up all the books and read them in order, I am not that organised and generally just pick up books as I come across one that I might like, usually from charity shops as I don't believe in paying full price either.

I generally don't tend to bother with books that aren't stand-alone stories and as for re-reads ... no way ... I don't think I have ever re-read a book, as I usually pass a book on to someone else just as soon as I have finished with it.

This is why my husband gets so frustrated with the several hundred books we have sat on our shelves, when I tell him that I haven't read any of them, or they wouldn't be there!!

Great to get all that off my chest, thanks for an entertaining five minutes.

    Have a good week, Yvonne

  7. Gigi Ann, I do read books that are part of a series, and I try to read all of them, in order, although as a book blogger, it seems harder to keep up. An example of a series I enjoy is The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency series--I am a couple of books behind. But I adore the books, and the movies are fantastic as well.

  8. I have never reread a book, that's why I like books that are part of a series that can also be of a "stand alone" read. Rereading a book? When I probably won't read in my lifetime with whats in my large tbr bookcase and 2 EReaders and on my list lol.

  9. I like a series but I'm not much of a re-reader. I'm going to check out Doggone.

  11. Yes, I read books in a series. I get mine from our local library and they list the series and number them in the front of the books. This is extremely helpful, as I hate it when I read a book only to find out it is in the middle of a series. Also one of my favorite websites is 'fantastic fiction'. It is great for finding authors and their books and which are in a series. (And I don't re-read!)
