"A Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon 2012"

The Winter's Respite Read-a-Thon, hosted by Michelle, The True Book Addict  begans on Monday, January 23 through January 29! It will start at 12:00am Monday and end at 11:59pm on Sunday.  Times are central standard time so adjust your times accordingly.
Every spare minute next week, I will be busy reading. I will list below the books I read as I go along. I hope to lighten my TBR pile by 4 books. That means a lot of mean reading for me.
1. The Accidental Florist, by Jill Churchill. Review 1/23/12
2. Goodbye Ms. Chips, by Dorothy Cannell
3. There Goes The Bride, by M.C. Beaton
4. The Grand Finale, by Janet Evanovich

This week MizB at Should Be Reading musing asks…
Why do you think that the Young Adult genre is so popular with even the adult readers? Do you read YA books, yourself?
I think the YA genre is popular with young readers, because it is topics that interest the younger tweens, and teens. It is a lighter, easier book to read, than suspense/thrillers. I really don't know why older adult readers choose to read YA. I personally, have never read a YA book. Therefore, I don't really feel I'm qualified  to answer this question, but I gave it a shot anyway.

  5. I agree with you. I'm not sure why and often wonder why so many adults are now reading YA.

As for myself, I enjoy YA books. They are light and entertaining. I read the Harry Potter series twice :)

  9. I agree with you, YA books really aren't for me. The few times I've read them were for reviews.

    Good luck with your read-a-thon!
