Things Found in Books

Will and Guy's Joke.

Funny Things Found in Returned Books: by Librarian Jan Bild

The Guardian newspaper is to be thanked for bringing this article to our attention having interviewed former librarian, Jan Bild, in Worthing after a 30 year career working in libraries.

The following strange articles were found in the books returned to the library:

* A rasher of uncooked bacon [presumably a book mark]
* A £10 note
* A shoelace
* One large feather
* A bag of hashish in a hole gouged in the book's centre pages
* A Pension book
* Love letters to Edith
* Vomit [sorry]
* Photos
* Page where every letter 'O' had been coloured in
* Bank statements
* Spaghetti

  1. Too funny. The person who colored in the Os must have a lot of time on his/her hands. We found a 4 leaf clover wrapped in saran wrap in a book my son picked out at the used bookstore.

  2. I used to buy old books and some would have notes in them and some would have names with old dates like 1913 in one.

  4. Wow what interesting finds. I wouldn't mind finding some money but I could definitely give the old food & the vomit a miss!
