FIR ’10: Reading Question #1

FIR is hosted by Katrina at Callapidderdays.
I mentioned in the Fall Into Reading 2010 launch post that every Tuesday this fall, I will post a question about reading. Why am I doing this? Well, for one thing, I love reading and talking about reading with others. And for another, I thought it would be a great way to keep Fall Into Reading participants connected throughout the course of the challenge.
So without further ado, here’s the first question, and my answer.
What do you think is the biggest obstacle to your reading? What prevents you from reading as much as you’d like?
Hmmm... My biggest obstacle?... I think I tend to spent to much time on the computer reading all the other interesting blogs. I tell myself I will just check to see what everyone posted about today and the next thing I know 2 hours have gone by and I haven't even picked up my book. So what to do about my online visiting and commenting so I have more time for my reading. I schedule time for my reading, I like doing my blogging in the mornings when I can, and I do my reading in the afternoon and/or evening.
When I read I need my quiet time, I DO NOT like distractions, therefore, I find it difficult to read in waiting rooms, buses, anywhere there are distractions. I can read in the car while waiting for my husband while he shops, so I always carry my latest read with me. I am not a shopper, believe it or not!
How about you, what is your biggest obstacle, that interferes with your reading time?

Teaser Tuesdays (Sept.28)

September 28, 2010
teasertuesdays31 Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

  • This week I am reading Murder, She Wrote...A Fatal Feast, by Donald Bain.
This whole business is playing havoc with your brain, I told myself. The next time Hubert Billups stations himself across the street from my house, I will find out exactly why he's there and what he wants.  (PB page 55.)

  2. I'm a huge fan of the "Murder, She Wrote" TV show (and Angela Lansbury), but I haven't read any of the books yet. Must do something about that soon! Excellent teaser.
