"Musing Mondays"

                                                    This week’s musing asks:
Name your top 2-3 favorite genres (the ones you read most from).

One of my favorite genres is Light Mystery, not so much Thriller, but, a 'who done it?'  I enjoy trying to see if I can figure out who did it before the end. However, most of the time I am fooled, because in the end there is a twist to who done it. But, when I think about the plot, I see how it all worked out that way. Agatha Christie, Don Bains, (he authors, Murder, She Wrote) remember the old TV show, with Angela Lansbury. I love that show, I never missed her, she came on every Sunday evening, way back when!

Another favorite genre is  light romance  with a bit of mystery/ comedy thrown in. I don't like trashy romance novels. If I start to read a romance novel,  it starts to get trashy and smutty, I never finish reading it, no matter how great the story is. I throw it in the trash, where it belongs. I live to be entertained, not smothered in smut and trash.  I don't see anything wrong with the characters falling in love and living happier ever after,  after all,  I have been married 52 years, and the mother of five children, I know how it works! Enough said? Some authors I like in this genre, are Debbie Macomber, Barbara Delinsky, and LaVyrle Spencer, and Kristin Hannah. And of course all of Jane Austens books.

Another favorite genre of mine is reading stories about animals or pets. I like  James Herriot's books, and I also like the Chicken Soup books for Dog, Cat, and Pet Lovers. And, I loved Marley & Me, by John Grogan, and how could I forget "Dewey, The Library Cat,"  I loved that book. I also like Lilian Jackson Braun's The Cat Who... books.  I guess it's because I am an animal lover.

That's my Musings this Monday,  what are your favorite genres?

  3. Thats a tough questions for me. It seems like I go in phases. I do enjoy YA, but those are mostly for fun. I love books about causes, (true stories) but not sure where they fall genre wise unless it is just non fiction.... I like mysteries, and womens literature....

  5. I do enjoy cozy mysteries...in my post, I just categorized them as "mysteries/suspense," but I like them cozy, too. I also enjoy the psychological thrillers.

  6. If you can find them (they are mostly out of print, but the library can order them)... You would like the books by D.E. Stevenson. They are mostly set in England and Scotland and always combine sweet romance with a little bit of a mystery.

They are some of my favorite books to curl up with and pretend I'm sitting in a cottage somewhere in the British Isles.

  10. I love it when I think I've figured out whodunit and a twist happens and I'm wrong. The older I get, I don't like trashy smut either. There is so much better things out there to read.

  11. Hello! I am new to book blogging and came onto your book somehow... you know, a click here, another there, and here I am. I see that you like animal books. Have you by chance read The Good, Good Pig by Sy Montgomery? Just had to ask, as it's a favorite of mine, and yes it's about a pet pig. :)
