"The Scoop" Review

Well, I just finished reading this Fern Michaels book, and I can tell you I have nothing good to say about it. Now I usually like her books. However, I have to say, I did not care for this book at all. 


She included details that were boring and really not necessary. I don't really care that the character washed her hair twice with grapefruit scented shampoo and then used a hyacinth-scented body wash. Unless this is important to the story, I really don't care what she shampooed her hair with.  


And another thing, they drank coffee all day and were awake all night drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. When the story started to lag, someone would say, lets have a drink  and make a toast, and put on another pot of coffee. Nobody could drink that much coffee all day and night.  I guess that was why a few of the characters would go to bed at 1 o'clock in the morning and be up by 3'o clock in the morning drinking more coffee. 


I was going to give up on this book a few times but like a dummy, I kept reading hoping it would get better, BUT, it never did get better, and all of a sudden the book ended, and nothing was really settled to my liking anyway. I understand it is the first book in a series, so maybe that was the reason for the abrupt ending. I will never know, because, I will not be reading anymore of this series of books.   On a scale of 1-5, I give it a 1 star.
