"Shopping and Books"

Yesterday was a big outing day for me. I visited Wal-Mart, and while waiting for my prescription to be filled I decided to check out the books. While meandering around through the book section, these books jumped off the shelf and into my shopping cart. I was as surprised as anyone else, being I had told myself just last week, that I was not going to buy anymore books until I got some of the books on my bookshelves read. But, how could I pass up these five books, all by three of my favorite authors.

I don't know how I missed Nicholas Sparks, The Lucky One, since I read just about everything he writes, so I just had to have it.  Next, I noticed the two books by Debbie Macomber, again I just had to have them...And SUDDENLY, there on the shelf was a book by Barbara Delinsky, titled what else, "Suddenly." Now I just started reading books by Ms. Delinsky and realized I like reading her books, so she is now another one of my favorite authors.  Therefore, I just had to have this one as well.

As I meandered around a bit more, what should appear before my eyes but another book by one of my favorite authors, Kristin Hannah..there was her book, Winter Garden,,, It leaped right off the shelf and into my hands. What could I do?  I lost all self-control and it landed in my shopping cart along with the other four books. I quickly left the book section and ran to see if my prescription was ready. I needed to leave right now! It was ready. I called my husband and said I will be in the car.... so went my visit to Wal-Mart yesterday.

I can't wait to get to My Reading Corner and read the day away... It's nice to be retired....

  2. I'm just like you, I can't control myself when I'm in any place that sells books. I'm a very impulsive book buyers, I try to stay away from places that sell books, that include Target, and Wal-mart....but I still ended up buying a bunch of Nora Roberts' books just last weekend... God helps us all! The only consolation is that I've been helping the economy by buying books uncontrollably...
