"Book Choice For The Month...."

Here it is time to make my selection of "My Book Choice For The Month" of November. Since I am planning on doing some crocheting this month, I thought I would listen to a book. It is a bit difficult to crochet and read a book at the same time. But, hopeful I will be able to multi-task, crochet, and listen at the same time.

It was difficult to decide what to read this month, since I felt like reading a mystery. Who would it be, Miss Marple, Hercule Poirot, Jessica Fletcher, or Stephanie Plum? I decided none of the above. I haven't read a Dick Francis mystery for quite awhile, and since I have this one on tape, why not listen to it?! It is one of his older books, written in 1992. However, like I always say, it doesn't matter how old the book is, if you haven't read it, it's new to you.

It's about a young ex-jockey Freddie Croft. He owns a profitable fleet of horse vans that convey runners to the course. A man of few illusions about racing's smarmier aspects, including its many opportunities for crime, Freddie is a stickler for security. But even he is startled by the violence that erupts when an employee breaks one of his hard-and-fast rules: Never pick up a hitchhiker. In the first of many ironies, the hitchhiking passenger--not the driver--turns up dead. And if one corpse is bad for business, what happens next could well cost Freddie his life, as he finds himself driven into the heart of malign conspiracy, where appearances deceive.

It is approximately 3 hours in length. So that will go much faster than if I read the book. So, as not to neglect Stephanie, I may listen to one of her books this month too.

Happy reading everyone. Or listening if that is your choice this month.

  1. I wish I enjoyed listening to books on tape. My husband does this back and forth to work. I tried it and didn't like it very much. But I wish I did. It would be a great way to multitask.
